Our Materials + Processes
We take pride in producing products with a conscience.
Our products are designed to last, not to follow fashions or trends, and we hope that you’ll love them for many years come. In order to reduce waste and avoid surplus stock, we make the majority of our products in small batches, and some on demand.
We try to use natural fibres and materials wherever possible, and take great care when considering which suppliers to work with, having built up many strong working relationships over the past two decades.

Our lambswool homeware, knitwear and accessories are woven and knitted in Scotland and Portugal, before being finished by hand in our London studio.
The wool comes from sheep in the Geelong area of Australia, a region known for producing the world’s finest yarns.
Lambswool comes from the first shearing, meaning it’s the softest, downiest wool that will ever come from the sheep. Once shorn, the fibres of the wool and cleaned and carded to remove any dirt and impurities, before being twisted and spun into yarn.
We work with several spinners, but the majority of our yarns are spun in a 200-year old, family-owned and run mill in the heart of the Yorkshire Pennines.
All of the yarns used to make our products are Oeko-Tex certified, meaning that they are free from harmful dyes and other substances, and safe to be in contact with skin.
We hate the idea of waste, so we gather up any knitted offcuts from our production process so that they can be used elsewhere. Bigger offcuts are recycled for use in our Make Your Own kits, while smaller scraps are shredded and turned into woolly stuffing for our knitted creatures and craft kits. -
Our lambswool creatures are made by hand in the UK.
We knit the panels of yarn used to make our creatures using domestic knitting machines in our London studio. These are then washed to felt the fabric, dried, pressed and sent to our team of outworkers across the UK – that’s Elaine, Laura, Kate and Genna. Elaine who lives in Orkney, a small island to the north of Scotland, has made over 3,000 Cyril Squirrel Foxes over the years! And not to forget our talented seamstress Lora, who makes a whole host of creatures in our studio.
They’re all assembled and embroidered by hand, which means that they are all perfectly imperfect – there are never two exactly the same, and each outworker adds a little dash of their own personality to them.

Our cotton towels, cushions, throws and robes are made in Portugal. We work with a traditional, family-run company who are renowned worldwide for their fine jacquard weaves.
All of our cotton products are Global Organic Textile Standard and Oeko-Tex certified, meaning that they are free from harmful dyes and other substances, and safe to be in contact with skin.
Our cotton products are easy to care for, and can be machine washed and tumble dried – be sure to check the care labels for more information! -
Our bone china plates, mugs and egg cups are made in Stoke-on Trent in in the UK.
For over 300 years, this area has been renowned for its master potters and high-quality, fine ceramics. The factory we work with has handed down their skills and techniques through many generations, and is one of the last remaining factories to survive.
The clay used to produce our ceramics comes from a local supplier, just a couple of miles away from the factory. -
Our stoneware ceramics are made by skilled craftspeople in Portugal.
The clay found in the Norte region of Portugal has a very unique texture and pigmentation that’s unique to the area. We work with a family-run company who combine three decades of production experience with cutting-edge technology, and every plate, platter and mug is expertly painted by hand before being fired in the kilns.
Stoneware is renowned for its durability and is able to withstand extreme temperatures, meaning it’s suitable for use in the oven, microwave, freezer and dishwasher.
